Sonic Doing&Thinking Week11 – Feedback
In fact, it’s a very inconvenient thing for me to foley sound now. I don’t have a recorder and the only device I can use is my phone. And I can only record some of the more everyday sound effects, because I can’t go out as often and some of the props haven’t been found yet. So I’m actually using more of the sound effects from the library directly now, and I’ll only consider foley sound if I can’t find something suitable.
I used the sound effects from the sound library to complete the sound clip exercises in class, but the sound library didn’t provide enough sound effects when I was working on my group assignment. For my sound clip I needed the sound of a sliding cooler opening and closing, and I tried to record this sound in a supermarket. However, I think the ambient sound of a supermarket is a little different from that of a small shop, as supermarkets have a concentration of freezers and there is a lot of machine noise, but a small shop will only have one or two freezers and the noise from the machines is not too loud. There were also some problems when recording the sound at home. The living room will always have a very low noise level because of the many appliances placed in it. There is a machine in the bedroom (maybe an air purifier?) , it’s always running and there’s always a very low noise level. So the sound recorded in the house always feels not very clean.
