Project Log 5 – Name

The name of my audio is ‘Dreamland’.

As said before dreams are the form of this piece. At the beginning of the dream world I wanted it to be warm and nice so I chose a liquid environment, although I don’t know why I felt an affinity to this environment, I think it’s likely because the womb, where we are born is also a warm and liquid filled environment. After that the space of the nightmare I wanted it to be cold and mechanical, so I chose the appropriate elements to create this environment. In the final stage, we wake up and the sounds we hear in this space will be clearer than the sounds we heard in the two previous spaces. Ambiguity is also an important element of the dream world.

The form of dreaming is just one of the reasons. The most important reason is that this experience was very much like a dream for me. Stuff from my childhood, from my formative years with my parents, that conversation from last summer. All of these things are blurred, only some very important elements are clear, and these clear elements are obsessions, some of which can even be distorted. One could certainly say that this is the effect of memory. But I feel that it is similar to the feeling that dreams give me. The whole is very blurred, but some fragments are clear again.

Another reason is actually very personal, I am very attached to my childhood dreams, which in my eyes is one of the most beautiful times. This is a time in my life that I want to remember.
