Visiting Practitioner Lecture Series – Sam Auinger
Think with our (your) ears, that’s the phrase I’ve seen most often in getting to know Sam Auinger. I read his text My pebble and saw how he keeps experimenting and exploring a sound and how he uses his ears to feel life and the world. He recorded the various sounds made by stones colliding with different parts of different objects and tried to find patterns in them. He also recorded the sound of stones falling from different heights in different rooms and hitting the floor. To feel the environment of the room and to think about how it affects your mood.
Thinking with our ears, feeling the world inside, understanding our lives differently and trying to create. This is what I have learnt from the works of Sam Auinger.
