Visiting Practitioner Lecture Series – Niknak

While getting to know Niknak, I marveled at her ability to improvise. I really love the album Bashi. People have commented that the track ‘Compass’ is a surreal sound formation, The turntable play now reminds of birds’ wings flapping, and rain sounds like electronic noise. “Compass” is a song with a quite tempting art vision and interesting finds. This is a strange meeting of two parallel world. But for me, every track on Bashi is a product of the collision of the natural world and the digital one. This is dictated by its thematic intent and presentation. The natural ambient sound and Turntablism, which collide to create great music.
